ROOT to Market is the result of a collaboration between experts from the worlds of procurement, construction and insurance to create a procurement vehicle that is compliant, ethical and drives changes in communities across the UK.

Catalysed by the ROOT Hub*, the collaboration consists of:

Woodknowledge – An independent for-public-good Community Benefit Society. Woodknowledge creates and shares knowledge across sector boundaries. Woodknowledge’s purpose is to bring closer alignment between the businesses within the forestry and timber construction ecosystem to deliver greater social, economic and environmental wellbeing across communities in the UK. Transparent and collaborative in their approach, they are a change organisation driven by impact rather than income and inspired by the need for dramatic change to our natural and built environments to support rapid decarbonisation and nature recovery.

Value Match: A procurement consultancy and services firm specialising in sustainable, value-driven procurement, primarily for the public sector and education trusts. They provide expert resourcing, consultancy, and training to improve social impact, environmental sustainability, and procurement efficiency, including managing Sustainable Dynamic Purchasing Systems and Dynamic Marketplaces. They have three key focus areas: Social Value: Aligning procurement with social impact goals and ethical sourcing. Sustainability: Reducing carbon emissions and ensuring sustainable supply chains. Efficiency: Streamlining processes to drive savings and compliance for educational and public sector entities. 

Lignum Risk Partners: An independent consultancy providing alternative risk transfer and risk management solutions, specialising in the UK construction and sustainable building sectors. They help companies manage, transfer, and insure complex or traditionally uninsurable risks, focusing on carbon net-zero targets, sustainable materials, and new technologies. Established in 2022, they assist firms in navigating risks associated with climate change mitigation and innovative building methods.

Heart Academies Trust: The Contracting Authority for the Dynamic Marketplace, HEART Academies Trust is a multi-academy trust that operates a family of schools aimed at raising educational standards and improving life chances for children. It focuses on providing high-quality, non-selective education through strong governance, community collaboration, and sustainable, environmentally responsible practices.

*ROOT Hub: The ROOT Hub, housed within Woodknowledge, is a group of organisations from across the construction sector who have come together to take practical action within their own organisation and across their sphere of influence to mainstream regenerative materials into the construction supply chain.
